MEG - MONOETHYLENE GLYCOL

Monoethylene glycol is an organic compound with the formula C2H6O2. It is a slightly viscous, odorless liquid with a clear, colorless appearance and a sweet taste. Mixes with water, alcohols and many other organic compounds.

It is used in the industry producing antifreeze, coolants, de-icers due to its ability to lower the freezing point of water. It is also used in hydraulic brake fluids and cooling systems such as vehicles and air conditioners as it acts as a coolant and heat transfer medium.

In addition, monoethylene glycol is used in the plastics industry as an essential ingredient in the production of polyester fibers, films and resins, one of which is polyethylene terephthalate (PET).

MEG is used in the production of polyesters. In addition, MEG is used in the production of paints, adhesives and surface treatments.
